What makes this massage special, according to David
For the Pregnancy Massage, David Rodrigues, BluSpa Jupiter Spa Therapist, emphasises the importance of caring for the woman with safety, delicacy and attention to the stage she is experiencing. This treatment is not based on a standard relaxing massage: every detail, from positioning to pressure, adapts so that the expectant mother feels comfortable, heard and supported.
Recommended for anyone who…
- Experiences lower-back tension, tired legs or physical discomfort associated with this stage.
- Is looking for a safe, calm massage adapted to the needs of pregnancy.
- Needs a moment of care, rest and physical and emotional wellbeing.
- Is breastfeeding and looking for a gentle experience, subject to assessment and the spa’s internal protocol.
David Rodrigues’s perspective
“For me, the Pregnancy Massage requires a very special kind of presence. A woman’s body is constantly adapting, which calls for even more attentive listening before any touch begins.
Before starting, I try to understand the stage the client has reached, how she feels that day and whether any area is causing greater discomfort, such as the lower back, legs or shoulders. I also pay close attention to positioning because comfort is essential if the massage is to be experienced peacefully.
This is not a massage in which the same sequence is applied to everyone. The pressure must be gentle and safe, the pace should follow the breathing, and the areas treated are selected carefully. On some days, an expectant mother primarily needs relief from heaviness in the legs. On others, she needs support, silence and serene touch.
I like to think of this treatment as care for the woman rather than only for the pregnancy. It is a moment in which she can stop, experience her body with greater comfort and receive unhurried attention.
At the end, the intention is for her to feel lighter, calmer and more supported, always within an approach that is safe and respectful of this particularly important stage.”
