Tok Sen Therapy
We live in a saturated society where the quest for physical and mental balance is increasingly sought after. More than ever, we recognize the importance of therapies that promote balance and well-being.
Let’s go back 3,200 years, to a time when the goal was to maintain health and rediscover oneself… This is where Tok Sen emerges, a therapy developed by Thai doctors in the Lanna region of northern Thailand.
Tok Sen therapy aims to release the flow of energy, helping dissipate stagnant energy.
How Does This Therapy Work?
Tok Sen uses an instrument resembling a hammer, made from tamarind wood. But don't be mistaken into thinking it's a violent or painful therapy...
Tok Sen Therapy is based on stimulating the body's energy channels through tapping movements, which work at a deep muscular level through vibration. The interesting aspect of this technique is that both the vibrational tapping and the repetitive sound lead to a meditative state, calming the mind and increasing tranquility and well-being.
According to legend, only wood from trees struck by lightning was used. And why? It was believed that this enriched the wood with the energy of the gods.
Who Should Try This Therapy?
Tok Sen Therapy can be used for relaxation or as an independent therapy with therapeutic effects similar to those of acupuncture.
At Mandalay Spa, in our quest for ancient Southeast Asian rituals, we discovered this millennia-old therapy with impressive results. Did you know that this therapy can relieve general pain, anxiety, stress, and back pain?
Why Wait Any Longer?
Come and experience our rituals in Lisbon, Porto, or Óbidos! We offer two rituals using Tok Sen that you won't want to miss: the Ultimate Deep Pressure, a full 80-minute version, and a shorter 45-minute version, Siam Healing Back Massage. You can also add it as an add-on to your favourite massage! Come and embark on a journey to Thailand!
